Ack.
There's superior methods to reinstalling in your case... note that when you
reinstall via "tricking" wmploc, the blind WMP10 installer stomps on your
QFEs. This is a horrible idea, of course. It'll also potentially
completely sever your ability to play DRM content.
I'm glad it worked for you, but please don't suggest this kind of thing to
anybody else - it's a really really bad idea given how fragile the WMP10
installer is. (WMP11 is on steroids, comparatively.)

Well, it wasn't working right because it wouldn't burn CDs for purchased
music albums, it wouldn't play albums I purchased previously that it once
played, it periodically crashed (locked up) and refused to close without
Task
Manager, the license info in "Properties" was blank for purchased music
files...that kind of "not working right." The original question was "How
do
I reinstall WMP 10?" Ans: I copied wmploc.dll from the Service Pack into
the System 32 directory overwriting the same file, was able to complete a
reinstall, and it seems to work fine now. I can certainly understand the
general frustration I sometimes see on these forums with Media Player in
general however, because of the difficulty repairing it, installing and
uninstalling it, and using it compared to other media players that are
much
more innocuous to the health of your operating software and your sanity,
and
accomplish essentially the same thing. I appreciate the response,
however,
and reading your link I realize this is your personal hobby. Thanks for
the
post and for supporting the forum.

How is it not working right?

My version of WMP no longer works correctly and I suspect corrupt
files,
but
when I try to reinstall I get a message "Newer version already
installed"
etc., and the installation stops. How do I reinstall WMP 10? Thanks!
