Okay - so what's the crash bucket number then?

will help you look it up.

It doesn't matter if I save it to file or play it from the email, it still
pops up this message. If it's a file other than a wmv file, it will play.

So!
What crash bucket number do you get?

will help you look it up.
Geeeeeeeeeeeeenerally, saving the file to disk and *then* playing it back
is
better than playing from email, since many email services use odd
security
or reference systems on the email that WMP may not be able to support.
Thanks!

This is the message that I get, each time I try to play any wmv files.
I
can
play mpe or mpg files OK but if I get an wmv attached to an email and
try
to
open it, I get this everytime. What Follows is the message in its
entirety.
I am running version 10.00.00.3802 of Windows Media Player on an XP
operationg system version 2002.
"Windows media player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are
sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of something,
the
information you were working on might be lost
Please Tell Micorsoft About this Problem:
We have created an error report that you can send to help us improve
Windows
Media Player. We will treat this as confidential and anonymous. To see
what
this error report contains click here."
When I send the report, which I have done more than a few times, I'm
not
certain if it has finished sending or not. At any rate, I get no
confirmation or no response of any kind. When I try to click to see
what
the
report contains, I don't see the traditional erro report numbers, that
I
have
seen referenced in the FAQ's that I have been browsing, looking to find
something that might address this issue. I have tried downloading a new
copy
of media player and that doesn't seem to help either. This is just
something
that started one day and from that day on, I can no longer play any wmv
files. I sure can't play them on any other media players either, so
I've
got
to somehow get the windows media player back on track. Thanks in
advance
for
any help that you might be able to provide.
