Have you turned on Analog ripping together with Error Correction ?

It's just a possible answer. Go to Tools -> Options -> Devices and
click your CD reader, choose Advanced and check out the properties.

Some "copy protected" CDs also install scumware which can slow down
ripping of your legitimately bought CDs too. Sony are (most recently)
famous for it, but there are others who practice this too.
