Re: 161 Codec in WMP10?

As I'm under general NDA as part of my employment contract, I can never give
you any date you didn't already know about or hear from elsewhere, sorry.
=) "This is being looked into and updates will be made available as
appropriate" is pretty much the boilerplate answer that I am *able* to give.

Zack,

Has there been any movement on this issue? We have several customers
awaiting a solution. Any information you can provide for the
"out-of-luck"
group would be very helpful.

Thanks!

EXTREMELY important that any DRM-related releases get full and due

I'm having the same problem with Napster music on my MCE 2002. I have
wmadmod
3646 and drmv2clt.dll 4332 which appears to put me out of luck. Do you
anticipate a solution soon?

this
point, TMK, unless you can reinstall the MCE roll-up again. It's
being

I am having the same problem. Music that I bought from buymusic.com
used
to play fine now gives me the codec error for 161. I followed the
web
link
and reinstalled the codecs but it still doesn't work.

wmadmod.dll version 10.0.0.3646
wmvcore.dll version 10.0.0.3802
drmv2clt.dll version 10.0.0.3802

Any ideas?

Thanks,
jim

Actually, what are the *file versions*? Right-click on the files,
check
Properties, and then look at the Version tab. =)

It is indeed confusing, but hey: you learned something new today.
=)

The wmvcore file is 2,315 kb, dated 1/28/05

The drmv2clt file is 491 kb, dated 1/28/05.

Thanks for your help.

The downloaded fix you got would definitely not fix this. That's
3646.
You want either 3802 or 4332 - we're trying to figure out which.
=)

Specifically you would want to know the file versions on the ones
under
c:\windows\system32 ...

I have about six files of both names you mention on the system.
The
wmvcore files range in size from 2,011 kb to 2,315 kb and the
drmv2clt
files range in size from 491 to 679 kb. Can you be more
specific
on
the file size I should be looking for and where it should be
installed? I am using WMP 10 and have downloaded the so-called
fix
there for the missing codec 161 with no results.

Thanks very much for your help.

Codec 161 is the DivX Audio 4 codec - but there's *no

Anyway try this download and see if the error goes away :
