Hi littleone - well if you can't hear any sounds at all on your
computer the first thing to check is if your speakers or headphones
are plugged in the right socket.

Most sockets are colour coded these days. It's likely that you should
have the speakers plugged in to the green colour coded socket. If that
doesn't work, try to swap out the speakers for headphones or
vice-versa.

It's also possible that your sound card has settings to 'mute' the
volume. So check this, go to the windows menu then

Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Volume
Control

That should have a menu of Options -> Properties.

Make sure that's selected and shows "Adjust volume for Playback" to
show all the volume sliders. Under each one is a checkbox labelled
"Mute" - they should have no tick in them for normal operation, plus
the slider should be to the top of the screen.

Finally if it's only windows media you're having problems with, to the
left of the volumeslider with the green gradient is a small button to
Mute the sound in the player - this is separate from any other Mute
control. Click it once or twice while playing audio and see if that's
been accidentally set to Mute.
