I am now using WMP 10 and I am trying to group my songs in the files that I want. I have taken specific songs and renamed the album title to 70's, 80's ect. So that I can create an 80's greatest hits file. Some of the songs do this with no problem, other are now listed as 80's (Eagles) or what ever group the song is. When I click to rename the file only 80's shows up and not Eagles. How do I get rid of the group name so that all these songs will just group themselves in an 80's file?
Don't rename the albums: use the genre field to create and group as 70s, 80s etc. You're just making things hard for yourself because you're running into features designed for grouping albums and album artists.
You can create new genres simply by typing names into that field, delimited by semicolons. Any track can have multiple genres.
