I'm experiencing the same problem with WMP10. And I have a 3.8 MHZ processor and 1 GiG of RAM. The DVD's play normally using PowerDVD, but are very choppy in WMP10. I'm using WinXP Home.

and there's no other programs running. I checked hte settings on another laptop and put all my WMP settings to the same as that one (where DVD's played fine), and I'm still having problems...any other suggestions?

probably @least 256mb if not the ram problem press ctrl>alt>delete with wmp running and see if other programs are running if wmp is the only program running, then try using other dvd computer players

also, what operating system are u using

That's a good point. Where can I check how much RAM I have, and how much is necessary for DVD's to perform optimally?

posibly insufficient RAM

Hi all. My WMP can play videos off of CD's, and news clips, music, etc, fine, but when I put a DVD in it will play but extremely choppy. Can't watch more than a minute of anything because it grates on my ears and eyes. I tried reloading all my codecs/drivers/decoders, but perhaps there's another setting that I haven't though of? If you have any ideas as to why a DVD would play so choppily, please let me know (oh, I also experimented with display settings, etc, but that didn't work). I had WMP9, but when I updated the codecs I upgraded to WMP10. I'm running Windows XP on my system.
