sounds like the necessary audio and video codecs are not installed.
how did you make the AVI files and what software did you use to create
them? most probably the software uses a codec that is not installed on your
boss's or co worker's machine. check the video-editing software to figure
out what codecs it creates the AVI files in

We run Windows 2000 with media player 9 at my company. I've made some avi
files that work fine on my PC. My boss can play the video but all he sees is
a visualization - the wavy lines and smoke and moving dots and ooow man can
you hear the colors? A coworker sees and hears nothing. What should I be
checking to see what's going on here? We're all supposed to have the same
configuration that our IT folks give everybody but something must be
different. And no, I can't call the IT folks.
