100% wrong. Windows nor WMP ships with a DVD decoder because...
1) If Microsoft included a DVD decoder in Windows that raises the price to
you.
2) If Microsoft included a DVD decoder in Windows that raises the price to
OEM's.
3) OEM have large contracts with ISV's to provide there decoders with their
PC's. This means that not only are they paying more for Windows, you are
paying for the DVD decoder twice. You want to pay twice?
Microsoft doesn't even develop DVD decoders! As stated in every document on
the issue, DVD playback is supported if a third party decoder is install.
Support for that decoder is handled through whoever develops it. Your
reasons don't stack up. If nothing in this newsgroup helps you needs to
either contact Microsoft PSS and/or the developer of whatever DVD you are
using.
