Oh Dear, I'm going round in circles here, a bit like that French film La Ronde.
I was given an old tune by a friend, its in m4a which was new to me. It
plays in WMP 6.4.
I checked on this forum and found Chris recommending the 3ivx download for
users with WMP10.
I downloaded it but it didnt play in 10 nor could I put it in the WMP library.
I asked on the 3ivx forum and got an offensive response saying they dont
condone stealing referring to the Slsk source. But nothing else. Having
explained I was a newbie and didnt understand all this stuff, I was ignored.
I literally spent a day at the pc exploring the web trying to find a
procedure for handling this file and any future m4a files I may obtain. One
day reading technical stuff where I only understood 1 word in 100.
I saw a suggestion where one user was invited to redownload the 3ivx
download ,I did that 3 more times.without achieving anything.
So I came back to this forum with my question.
Now I'm told by Chris positively that I cant play it in WMP10, I cant add it
to the Library there and I cant add m4a to the file list in Tools/Options for
the future.
He ends by referring me back to the 3ivx forum.
But they were rude to me and ignored me, so I was rude back and accused them
of being too bound up by the technical side and they were unhelpful to a
newbie.
I'm reluctant to go back there.
But where else am I going to find information and procedures to follow for
future occasions when I find I need to deal with m4a files.
I read somewhere there is a Registry Edit to add the .m4a extension to WMP
and somewhere else I read of a user playing files in WMP10 in the 'Other
Media' section.
If someone can point me to these topics I have a friend with the skill to do
it for me.
