My Windows XP Pro SP2 system is completely unable to run either WMP 9.0 or
10!
During a reinstall (thanks to some hardware upgrades) I made the mistake of
installing SP2 before I have initialized WMP 9.0.
This seems to have rendered both useless! If I try to run WMP10 it simple
pops up a Windows stated it cannot continue with the install. If I roll back
to WMP9 it starts the wizard to finalize the player and states it cannot
install would I like to go to the Windows Media Web site to reinstall the
player!
I have followed all the advice I have seen in KB articles and on this
newsgroup, I have reinstalled, rolled back and even removed registry entries
in an attempt to get a clean installation but nothing works! I have had to
install Real Networks RealPlayer so I can play something, but I hate this
player and want to get WMP10 on this machine, PLEASE!
Is there a guide to explain how to completely remove WMP and do a fresh
install? Or does anyone have any other suggestions???
Cheers
BB
