Well, it's not *very* easy to do...

The web based newsgroups at Microsoft don't work for everybody. If you have
your browser settings up high enough to actually be able to surf the web
somewhat safely, then you can't access the newsgroups that way. Not to post
or to search for answers. (And it probably doesn't work with Firefox,
although I haven't checked.)

And you can't easily do it with your newsreader. Especially considering
that some ISPs only keep a couple days worth of newsgroups, assuming they
even have the group you need. And not everybody knows of Microsoft's own
news server.

Although you can certainly do it via google, posting there is always such a
pain since they require registration with a valid email address. And then
turn right around and post that email address with every single message you
post.

But many people don't use google and therefor don't even think of the Google
Groups.

But yes... when you get a specific error number or have an easy to search
for question......
