Not from within WMP.
Be aware though that converting any lossy audio format (wma, mp3) into
another lossy format will result in the final audio file sounding worse than
the orriginal.
It's kind of like making a fuzzy photocpy of a fuzzy photocopy. (This is
one of the reasons why so many people disliked the Sony atrac disc players.
They converted mp3's etc.)
So it's not something you should do unless you absolutely positively have
to.
Also, you can't do DRM'ed wma files. Those are likely the only kind of WMA
files you'll run into that you might need / want to convert.
Welcome to the wonderful world of DRM where your rights are taken away!
For your own audio cd's, just rerip using a high quality mp3 encoder, such
as LAME. (Try cdex or EAC, with the LAME plugin.) (The LAME encoder is
better than what Microsoft gives you in WiMP 10, since that is limited to
CBR.)
Nobody in their right mind should buy DRM'ed music. Most buyers today have
no real understanding of the limitations that are involved, or the problems
that they are likely to have in a few years. Things that are well within
'fair use' and that you can legally do with a cd but not with a DRM infected
music file.
Still.... if you do want to convert a DRM'ed file, you'll need something to
capture the audio output, and then encode that. Check the 'streamboxvcr'
forum faq. http://pub25.ezboard.com/fstreemeboxvcrfrm7
Be aware though that a 128k wma file isn't high quality to begin with, so
the final mp3 isn't going to be either. (A 128kbps mp3 (LAME or Fhg's) is
significantly better than what 128k wma gives.)
