computer restarts when i try to burn cds? add on

i just tried to roll back to version 9- same thing happened so now im not
sure whats wrong with it, i scanned for viruses and spyware- none , and my
diagnostics are fine because I can burn cds with other programs... what is
going on? it gave me some error report message .. also it doesnt freeze
when i have no cd in the tray, but when i put one in and click the same thing
it freezes.... this blows-
