Since installing XP Service Pack 2 I have been unable to play
CD's on my PC. The player cannot recognise .cda files even
though that extension is in the list of files that Media Player
can play. Error message 001100cd appears when try to play.
I re-installed all the CODECS but it made no
difference.
I have now installed Media Player 10 and the problem remains.
If I go to 'Rip Audio CD' section in Media Player the Audio Disk
in the drive is shown but 'greyed out', as is the other (DVD)
drive.
From reading around on the 'Net it sounds as if SP2 may possibly have
introduced some DRM measures which are involved - but I cannot find any
way around the problem. It may be that Media Player needs to access the
'Net to validate the CD license?? but the PC that I play CD's on does
not have access to the Internet.
Can anyone advise please?
