When to use Windows Media Encoder?

Hello

I would like to rip my CD's into WMA Lossless. I can use WMP, but it also
looks like I could use Windows Media Encoder? Does anyone know if there is
an advantage to using the Encoder? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
