I have several computers (home and work) that have XP. All are at least SP1,
some are SP2. I'm using WMP 9 on some, 10 on others. I simply cannot play
audio/video streams from sites like www.atomfilms.com without getting a
message like: "Internet Explorer has detected a problem and must shut down."
THe affected files mentioned in the error report are iexplore.exe and
ntdll.dll.
The really odd thing is that this message occurs whether I use IE or the new
Firefox browser. RealPlayer and Quicktime all work fine.
I have checked the systems in question using AdAware and Spybot. Other than
cookies, everthing checks out okay. McAfee's antivirus finds no infections.
Another popular web program for checking for spyware, cwshredder, comes up
empty. I have also tried resetting my I{ stack (MSKB article 299357) and all
appears well with that.
What do I check next?
