Yeah, I suspected it might be this initially, but this didn't make any
difference for me when I tried it a few days ago - it seems to work
for some people though. Anyway, I've reverted back to WMP9 via the
system restore which appears to be the only way to do this. I tried
uninstalling WMP10, which seemed to work at first glance, but the WMP9
installer still said I had a more recent version installed so refused
to install WMP9. On further inspection of the Window Media Player
folder under Program Files, I manually deleted the still existing
WMP10 files, only to find that Windows REBUILT all of the files
(somehow) and placed them back in the folder! Anyhow, system restore
did manage to revert it back to version 9.
Until this gets fixed I'm gonna keep it that way. If you like the mp3
making functionality, you can get good programs like CDex
(http://www.cdex.n3.net/) which will find the track names etc, plus
give you a lot more encoding options and also jitter removal tools
(for badly scratched CDs).
If anyone finds a definite fix I'd still like to know though...
