Windows media player 10 lag

Hi, since i have updated to wmp 10, i play a song or a video and it plays
fine the first time it plays but when it gets to about the third song it
starts to lag, and if i have a look in windows task manager wmp is using a
hell of a lot of ram for some reason, which makes my whole computer lag, i
have a decent computer p4 2.66ghz with 512mb of 400mhz ram and a 128mb 3d
graphics accelerator card. if someone could help me, thx in advance.
