My VAIO computer suffered a hard drive crash last year which required
that I purchase and install a new hard drive. Instead of restoring the
Windows XP software that came with the Sony CD,I purchased a new copy
of XP Professional.
Since that time, I have been unable to play DVDs. Whenever I insert a
DVD into my disk drive, Windows Media Player tells me I need to
purchase and download the codec to play a DVD. I just downloaded and
installed WMP 10 and I'm getting the same messages.
Are there free DVD codecs available or do I need to buy them? Seems
like this should come free with either XP or WMP.
Thanks in advance.
Steve
