for the first time I tried to download music from the internet. I assumed
that I
could guide it's destination, and I did, putting it in a folder called
internet, in my documents, pretty simple. The file was an album, I had
listened to a 30 second
section that somehow defaulted to MusicMatch Jukebox. The file was I
thought, for
all I know of current media file types, an .MP3 file. However, when I went
to save
this, the only option given was .emp . So I saved 15 songs under -----.emp
onto my hard drive. I next tried to figure out how to open this file in my
windows media player. I recognized a new file, not titled ----.emp, played
it and found it was the 30 second blip I had played, but had not tried to
download. I found ----.emp, and moved it to a new playlist I created by
dragging it over. In trying to open and play this new playlist(through
either douple clicking or highlighting and pressing play, I don't recall),
that I assumed held the 15 tracks of the album, a screen appeared giving me
options, the 2 I recall were burn to cd using another programme I have on my
computer, or do nothing. I thought it would do to burn it to disc, as I had
once already placed a cd into Windows media player. Instead of immediately
burning the file to disc, it brought up my whole burning programme, which
then could not find the file ----.emp to burn. I closed that programme, and
then I believe I used some command to copy, not burn onto disc. Two screens
appeared, mentioning both the 30 second blip of music and also ---.emp .
Now, ---.emp can not be found anywhere on my computer. The file ---.emp can
be found on Disc Drive D, but error COODOO2b appears when I try to access it.
There is no options, either, to change the format, so it can be recognized.
Is the album on the disc even though it copied, not burned, to that location?
Will all audio resources that I download be classified as .emp files? Is it
because it was .emp that it was so difficult for windows media player to
access and play it? Can I change the format of this sound document to MP3?
These are the important questions, but if anyone can account for my Jukebox
recording annommily (it came with my computer, it's the same as media
player,no?) , that would be great. I'm supprised with my Windows XP, it does
everything by itself, so why can't this be as easy?
