Error C00D11BB is "Unsupported protocol". "Most" of the time you will
receive this when you are trying to stream a file over a protocol used by
another program. (Ex. RealPlayer) If you are getting this for a support
stream then you might try reinstalling WMP over itself, this had been said
to fix it. It has also been said that the following will work (Assuming you
have RealPlayer/RealOne Installed)...
1) Open RealPlayer, go to Tools, Preferences, File Types tab. Under file
types, uncheck everything except Real Audio and Real Video files. Then
uncheck the box to make RealPlayer the default player. Click OK all the way
out.
2) Go to Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options, Programs tab, and check
the bottom box so that IE checks to see if it is the default browser.
3) Reinstall WMP. Make sure during setup you select it to play all media
file types listed, and that it is set as the default player.
4) Restart your PC and then try and access the stream.
If that doesn't help please read below. Remember, it's _your_ job to help
find solutions, not mine.
In order for your peer's to try and help you will have to provide the
*exact* link to the content you are trying to play. Please don't just give
a link to the homepage, since other people are taking their own personal
time to reply it's best to not have them hunt for a link. (Especially if the
webpage is in a language other than English)
In most cases you will want to provide the following basic information...
--Does the stream play in mplayer2.exe? (a.k.a WMP 6.4 | Start>>Run>>Type
"mplayer2.exe)
--What version of WMP are you using? Along with your OS.
--Again, the exact link to the stream.
--Also see http://www.zachd.com/pss/pss.html#isolate for some help basic
information.
-- NOTE: Replies are to help benefit others in helping you and reproducing issues, not necessarily for me to get back to you. ---- "Reggie" <ReggieRock@adelphia.net> wrote in message news:190001c4a183$ef11ded0$a401280a@phx.gbl... > the message window media player cannot play the file > because the specified protocol is not supported. if you > typed a url in the open url dialog box, try usind a > different transport protocol. > I didn't type anything in the url and it won't let me. the > code error that also pops is COOD11BB. how can i fix that > so this so that i can review videos on my windows media > player????
