I downloaded to my hard drive three files from the Internet consisting of 60
or 70 year old radio shows. I then played them on my computer in WMP9 and
all three files sounded as I would have expected. I then created a CD of the
three files, using software that came with my computer, RecordNow. When I
play the CD either on my computer using WMP9 or on a portable CD player
which I have, the first and third tracks play at a very much faster speed
than they should, while the second track plays normally. I checked the files
on the hard drive again after discovering that the CD was imperfect and all
three of them sounded fine in WMP9.

I be grateful to be told what I might have done wrong when creating the CD.
