On a Windows XP (SP2) machine running wmp9:
Windows Media Player recently stopped playing mpeg files streamed over http
from a web server. Any ideas as to why this happened?
Previous behavior:
Clicked on a link directly to an .mpg file (mpeg 1 format)
WMP 9 opened up, buffered a bit and played the file
Current behavior:
* Click on the link
* WMP opens up, says "Playing", but doesn't open the file for playing
I know that the download is taking place, because if I close the media
player window, and start downloading the file manually (in IE, choose "Save
As"), the file appears to have already been partially downloaded.
I've also tried choosing the "Open URL" command in WMP and manually entering
the link, which accomplishes the same thing.
WMP is the default player for mpg/mpeg files, and the mpg file is registered
in WMP's file types list. I've run out of things to try. Any ideas??
