When Playing .mpg's Media Player crashes!

Can anyone tell me why my Window's Media Player 9 crashes
everytime I try to play .mpg's from a website??
If I play them locally from my hard drive it doesn't
crash, but as soon as I try to watch a video in .mpg
format FROM A WEBSITE it crashes after I get the pop-up
error!!
This pop-up error goes like this "Windows Media Player
has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience." blah blah, would you like
to send the error report.

I can play all other types of files from websites
EXCEPT .mpg's! I even tried un-installing, and re-
installing it, and still no luck. I've now install Media
Player 10 beta, and same thing...no luck! Everything is
up to date. I'm running XP home.
PLEASE HELP!!
