That's not a good idea. =) I'd be impressed if it worked, but... if you
followed those steps offhand, you'd ~probably~ find yourself crashing in WMP
due to missing files.

For what it's worth, I wrote the installer. When you want to reinstall the
player, you should reinstall the player ON TOP of the existing install. If
you've tinkered with your existing install (deleting files == very bad),
then reinstall the player, and then reinstall on top of that once more
(anymore than that is purposeless: if you deleted certain files yourself,
WMP has to recover out of that state before it will enter into the Reinstall
All state it will enter into when installed on top of an existing install).

Generally, any advice that tells you to delete WMP files or uninstall in
order to reinstall should be erroneous, and often bad advice: I wrote the
installer to behave in a way I felt was amazingly logical. After all, who
thinks they should have to UNINSTALL to REINSTALL? We've become crazy in
our thinking these days, and it's weird and frustrating to the average user.
Bah! =)

Anyways, I respect your spirit and contribution here - I just wanted to make
sure you were aware of how the installer/system works so that there's no
confused users that end up deleting files and breaking themselves further.
=\

Best regards,
-Zach
