Enable rtsp or http streaming on your server for use with WMP9 or
later. mms is a bogus protocol (used for rollover) that's not really
been in use for several years now. WMP11 just highlighted the fact ;-)

I cannot get my wmv files to work anymore on pcs with Media Player 11------------------------------------------------
installed. It works fine on the pcs with WMP 10. I have XP Professional on
all pcs. None of the files on my website will stream anymore and I have users
with WMP 11 complaining as well as the same problem on upgraded media players
on my network.
To see this for yourself visit
www.fbcbrandon.org, under Broadcast select Sermon Archives. Choose any file.
WMP 11 opens, but gives error that network may be busy or unavailable. This
is not an accurate error and works on all pcs that have not been upgraded to
WPM 11 and IE7. Microsoft needs to acknowledge and provide a fix.
PS - I am using the MMS protocol for streaming as can be seen in the status
bar when the file link is moused over.
Anyone have any ideas?

I too am having the same problem with streaming videos. When I click on the
websites you mention, I am unable to hear/see the video. Seems that lots of
others are experiencing the same problem for which Microsoft refuses to
acknowledge.

can access or call about getting some professional help on this issue and
other streaming media server issues. Thanks for the links.

Hi Daniel,
It seems like the problem may not be with your Media player but can be
possible the java plugins or flash player may not be installed correctly.
try to uninstall and reinstall it.
If still it causes the problem maybe i am looking for damaged Internet
explorer files.
I will be looking forward for ur reply so that i can provide you further help.

When my son connects to a website where there are videos to watch (e.g.
demos of Wii !!) Media Player no longer plays the video (any video and
any site). It used to work and I don't know what has been changed. Same
behavior with Media player 10 and 11 and Firefox and IE. Media player
works alright when used on its own, i.e. it plays files on the HD.
I thought it could be related to java (he admitted having "done
something" with java) but sites that use their own video player work
without problem.
Computer is a Dell inspiron 6400 XP SP2.
Any idea?
