OK, that did it. I disabled the QT plugin and it went back to opening in WMP.
We've also found that even if a filetype is associated with WMP,
Quicktime can still 'grab' it in a browser. However if you unassociate
it, and then reassociate it with WMP, that does the trick (for wavs at
least) without requiring you to uninstall Quicktime. Try the
following:
1. Open Windows Media Player.
2. In the menu bar select Tools > Options.
3. Select the File Types tab.
4. Look down the list of File types.
If 'Movie file (mpeg)' is already ticked:
- untick it and select Apply. (This step should not be missed out).
- tick it and select Apply.
If 'Movie file (mpeg)' is not already ticked:
- tick it and select Apply.
Select OK.
Close Windows Media Player.
