reading referrer from an embedded player

hello group...

i have a windows media plugin embedded w/in a web page. the src points
to a server -side script which is attempting to read the HTTP_REFER
header. problem is that the header info is coming up null. the refer is
being logged in my windows streaming server logs so i know its there,
is it just not accessible to interim server scripts?

i noticed on zachs help page that the player must be embedded w/in a
web page to have access to this data, but it doesnt seem to work w/ my
tests.

are there certain player settings that must apply before this HTTP
header can be read?

has anyone had much success w/ this?
