Re: No Video from encoder

I have the same problem. My SONY camera model is DCR-HC21 NTSC (is not a web
cam). I can use it fine via USB with both Yahoo and MSN. I can also see the
input area fine in Windows Media Encoder 9, THE PROBLEM IS THAT once I press
"Start encoding" the video in both input and output areas become black (no
image). Once I stop encoding, the video appears on the input area. I have
streamed succesfully from ATI TV Source and also from a MPEG file, but
streaming from a USB source, seems not to work as intended.
However, I was able to make it twice work (see my image in both inout and
output areas), this can be reproduced after few attempts but ONLY when the
CPU was 100% (very busy for a while) by some other running programs...
Any Clues? Does Windows Media Encoder have any tools to debug or collect
more info?
I am willing to use my PC as a guineea pig and install any debuggers /
patches from authorized source.
Email me directly and will work together: ozega@xxxxxxxxxx;
ovidiuzega@xxxxxxxxxxx
Thank you,
Ovi

I did, no video, only the audio played.

If I'm not encoding, the video from the camera shows on the input screen.
When I try to encode (pressing the record/encode button), the video from the
input goes blank.

Arrgg! Why is it nothing ever works the first time???

Did you try to save the file and see if there is any video?

I'm trying to download from a sony dv cam through USB. I have XP Pr0 sp2.

When I play the video from the camera, I see it on the input side but not
through the encoder. The audio records fine.

During setup, the video device is "Sony Digital Imaging". Do I need to
install a codec? If so where and how do I get it?

Otherwise, HELP??
