I am trying to encode a video with eight audio channels in WMEncoder. The
video is an avi and the eight channel audio was created using wavavimux. It
all works very well except that the encoded file is always in stereo. I
assume it is because in the 'Processing' tab, it says it is folding down to
stereo. I can't find a way to switch this off and leave it so that all eight
channels are kept separate.
You've selected WMA10 standard, where you needed to select File
Download, then WMA10 professional, then go to the bitrate. click Edit,
click the tab showing the overall bitrate and choose the audio format
as (yadda) 7.1 channel audio.
The WM Studio Encoder will make it simpler for you, as you won't have
to combine the audio into 8 channels (though you may still do that) -
you can add 8x individual audio tracks for your surround sources.
