Can he "telnet" to that address ? To check that he can connect to that
port, he would Start -> Run and type in cmd to get a command prompt
window.
Then in the box type in (replace x with true IP address)
telnet 72.x.x.x 8080
Press enter, then type in (the text will be hidden)
He got the message: "could not open connection to the host, on port 80"
So that's wrong isn't it ? We specified to use Port 8080 for the
encoder and firewall, and he typed in port 80. Some people can't
follow basic instructions ;-))
Hmm, So I'll retrace my steps...
I deactivate my Fire wall and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests.
Then in Applications & Gaming, The name of the application (wmenc), Start and
end at 8080, the IP address of this computer, and enable.
That should be enough, as long as you are also setting your Port
Forwarding to send port 8080 incoming to the IP of the computer and
not to some other IP address.
It's worth checking to see if the gateway (linksys) allows ping
requests, as he could Ping your IP address to see if it can be "seen".
