Encoder crashing whilst encoding .WAV to .WMA

Hi, I'm having problems with the Windows Media Encoder, which keeps crashing
at random intervals, whilst in the middle of encoding batches of files
(.wav -> .wma).

The encoder is failing with the following exception logged:
"Faulting application encoder.exe, version 6.5.0.6, faulting module
wmeenceng.dll, version 9.0.0.2980, fault address 0x00059646"

When I restart encoding, the same file that failed is encoded as expected,
which suggests that it's not the specific file that is causing the crash.
I've google'd the dll and come up with nothing.

Can anyone help? (It's running on W2003).
