Well, that's not really true is it DRM dude ? Multicast islands *are*
available on the internet, but most people's ISP won't have or provide
access to them due to router limitations.
There's no sense that multicast is related to broadcast in any sense,
nor would you 'spam the world'. The multicast address range (IP
224.x.x.x to 239.x.x.x) is conpletely isloated by edge tunnelling, in
a similar way as private IPs are. Unless your local routers will
forward those packets, there will be precisely *no* effect of having a
multicast island active near to you.
