Output Preview in Windows Media Encoder look bright than Input

Whenever i encode a video using Windows Media Encoder and
its on the 2nd pass encoding. The preview of the output
is brighter than the input video. Where things are black
in the input it is dark grey in the output video. Why is
this, Can i fix it and does it save the output brighter
than the original was.
