Hey,
I run an online radio station, and we have recently had a re-shuffle of our in-studio
computer network. Previously, we were encoding through Windows Media 9 running on
an XP machine. This was connected directly to the net, and the machine acted as the
"server" for the rest of the computers in the studio.
We changed this set-up because we bought a Win98 machine which was to be dedicated
to encoding (we started seeing drastic memory loss on the XP machine so decided to
take the encoder off that machine onto another). This new win98 machine is now connected
to the internet directly, and so I could say is the new server.
Running Media Encoder 7.1 (9 is only supported by win2000+), we can connect to the
stream locally (i.e. on any of the other computers connected to the same internet
connection), but when we go to another internet computer, it refuses to connect.
I have tried changing the broadcasting port number, thinking there may have been
a conflict somewhere on the network, to no luck. I have tried disconnecting an re-connecting
to the net a few times in case it was a bad connection, same problem.
I've run out of ideas now and turning to you to help!
TIA
Stuart
