I am now advising people to ignore netmeeting and go for Portrait.
After a couple of years posting and watching the same problems again
and again in netmeeting, I consider Portrait now mature enough to be a
viable alternative. It only uses 3 static ports and is a hell of a lot
easier to get through firewalls - and can also use web proxies to
handle the video, MSN messenger calls and SIP call initiation are also
available.
If you don't need the T120 (data) features like whiteboard, file
sharing and so on, it provides good quality video and audio even down
to low bitrates, and can be used on Pocket OC - I'm trialling the new
version 2.21 now.
You can grab Portrait for PC and pocket PC from microsoft research ;

Cheers - Neil.
