Does it hurt to just turn off the power? The manual seems to list it

Refining my question: I tried pushing the power key, and it gave
choices like sleep and shutdown. So of course that is safe. PC's
aren't so integrated so the power key is just that, it turns off the
electricity.
What about with a Mac 63 or other apple product?
Is it fully ok to just pull out the plug from the wall? The battery
on this one isn't even installed because it is totally dead.
With a PC, temporary files that the system will delete when exiting
are not deleted if the computer is turned off before Shutting down.
And there might have been one or more other things too.
If you are inclined to email me
for some reason, remove NOPSAM :-)
