Mike-
Yes. If your G3 has a built-in FireWire port, you can probably upgrade to
the latest version. However, I suspect it is too old.
If it has a built-in USB port you can upgrade to version 10.3.9. If not,
the highest is OS 10.2.8.
My old Beige G3 266 MHz can only run 10.2.8. It works fairly well, but I
have the maximum amount of memory (768 MB?) installed. I suggest you
install the maximum your G3 can hold as well.
How big is your hard drive? On older machines, you can only install OS X
on a hard drive (or partition) smaller than 8 MB. If yours is larger, you
may need to do a back-up and reinitialize it with at least two
partitions. The first should be 7.9 GB so it can accept OS X. Be sure to
check the OS 9 driver box, or you won't be able to use it with OS 9.
