Hello Helen,
Sorry I was running around taking care of business. First thing is we
want
to make sure file services for Macintosh is loaded. You find it in
Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components, Other Network
Services, File Services for Macintosh. Check the box for File
sharing.
Then go to Computer Management, Shared Folders, Shares. Right click
on
shares, from the pop up menu select New File Share, then create your
share. Make sure to check the Apple Macintosh check box. On the Mac
you
may want to enable Apple Talk. Try it without first though. To enable
Apple Talk go to the Apple Menu (top left hand corner of the screen),
System Preferences, Network, Apple Talk tab, enable Apple Talk.
Hopefully
this will take care of your problem.

Hello Helen,
Do you have File Services for Macintosh enabled on the Windows
Server?

Hi,

I am pretty much new to the Mac world when it comes to networking
it with Windows servers. I am a network admin for a small firm
and have no problem mapping betw PCs and Windows server. I
thought I have done the right thing by installing the Apple
protocol on the Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 (SBS) servers and
then enable sharing on the folder I am trying to share. I have
added the appropriate right for the Mac user to gain access to the
share as well from the Permission tab of the folder.

When I try to map from the Mac G5 to the Windows 2000 server for
example: smb://192.168.200.101/creatives

If would prompt me to enter in the username and password and so I
supply it and then I only get next the box that comes up which
allows me to connect to MS UAM volume only. How do I get the
Creatives share to show up so that I can not to that instead?

Would you be able to give me specific instructions to configure
the server / G5 so that I can map to the share drive from the Mac
computer.

Thank you,

Helen
