Odd permissions problem

Hi, all -

I'm the Graphics Geek for a municipal government and (as you've
doubtless guessed) the lone Mac-user on a 99.9x% Windows network.

Overall, everything's working fine, except...

If I attempt, from my Mac, to move/rename folders on my personal share
on the network drive (folders which I created, BTW, filled with files
that I created), I receive the error message:

"The operation cannot be conpleted because you do not have sufficient
privileges for some of the items."

Oddly, if I, for example, move the contents of the folder to the new
location, I can then move the now-empty folder and drop everything back
into it in the new location with no problems - unless there is a folder
nested within the first one, in which case the process has to be
repeated for THAT folder... and it's turtles all the way down...

Checking the file info for the affected items shows that I have read
and write permissions and, if I go across the hall to a Windows machine
and log in, I can move what I want wherever I want with no problems.

I'm running the Mac SMB on OS X 10.3.9 (I THINK it's .9; I forget - I'm
at home, right now), and the network is (according to the MIS guys)
running Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition, Build 3790.

Curiously, while I have had this problem for a while... today, when I
tried to do some housecleaning on my share and move stuff around, the
Mac Admin window popped up, asking for my password - NOT my network ID
and password, mind you, but my Mac login and password which are
different from the netlogon ones. Again; note that this JUST happened
today, while the file problem has existed for awhile, so it may or may
not be related.

Also:, while I don't THINK that filetypes could be the issue; as I
said, I am the graphics guy, so most of the files in my folders are EPS
files, with a mix of JPEGs, TIFFs, raw Photoshop files and fonts thrown
in as leavening. The only reason that I mention this is that, while I
was on the phone with MIS today, getting the server info, the fellow
mentioned that there were some EPS files of mine on the OLD shared disk
that the *NETWORK ADMINISTRATORS* were unable to delete. While on the
phone with him, I went to the location he gave me and trashed the files
with no problem. the only common point being folders with EPS files,
which is a pretty slim (and possibly misleading) clue. I mention it
only in the interest of giving the doctor as complete a list of
potenttially-related symptoms as possible

Any clues? We're all stumped at this end! All suggestions will be
gretaly appreciated.
