 I know what I'm about to say is not what you're asking, but it might give
you a little more confidence in the Netgear wireless router.
 
 Because my wife has a PowerBook still running Mac OS 8.6, we couldn't use
Airport, which requires at least Mac OS 9.x. We bought a Netgear wireless
router which we attached to the DSL box provided by the ISP, and we got an
Orinoco Silver card for her PowerBook. Everything works fine in almost all
parts of the house.
