Can you be more specific about your network configuration and your
    network needs?

In the Network System Preference pane you can create separate
locations. For example, you might set up a Home location that uses
your AirPort Internet connection at home; and a Work location that
uses Ethernet to browser your company LAN.

Within a Location you can have multiple "Network Ports," which
include modem, Ethernet, AirPort, and anything else you might use to
connect to a network. These can be dragged up and down in the list to
determine the order you want them tried. For example, at home my iBook
tries Ethernet first -- and if there's no Ethernet connection
    detected, it reverts to AirPort.

There's a lot of flexibility in the OS X networking, but it depends on
what exactly you want to do.
