    Hi Derek,

A free download of OpenOffice is available here:
    http://www.openoffice.org

OpenOffice is a brand of office that directly competes with Microsoft
Office. OpenOffice is completely free. It has its own file format but it can
read and write files in Microsoft Office file formats, too.

You probably don't have to settle for OpenOffice if you shop around a bit.
Office 98 used copies are pretty cheap. 2001 and X will be probably hitting
the market soon in used copies as soon as Office 2004 comes to market. Try
Amazon and eBay for used copies. Make sure you get the original CD key,
though. A lot of pirated copies are out there and you can't update them with
    service releases.
