I have an iMac G5 OS 10.4.10 with VP 7.0.2 running Windows 2000. I
want to install XP Home edition. I inserted the disk and opened VP
and started the install. A window came up about partitions, I have 2
partitions and which one did I want to install in.
1. 15360MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on atapi [MBR]
2. C: Partition 1 [FAT32] 15359 MB <13575 MB free> this one was
highlighted.
I then continued. A window came up, saying it was unwise to install
two OS on the same drive.
What should I do to install XP?
Thank you
I just finished installing XP and crossed this bridge. The "two OS on
the same drive" is refering to your old OS (Win98?) which you want
erased and XP. Click "yes" to option 2 (C: Partition 1) and proceed.

Thanks for the reply. The install will delete Windows 2000 and
install XP, all other programs will be unaffected. I have a backup
just in case but I would sure hate to lose the one program and data I
use on VP.- Hide quoted text -

If you choose to 'Continue', you will delete everything that is on the
partition. From your post, it is obvious that you are not using an
Upgrade disk for Windows XP but a full blown version of the OS.
Make sure your Windows 2000 virtual machine is in a 'Not Running'
state. Go to the Virtual PC list window (in the VPC Menu bar, click on
Window - Virtual PC List). Then click on 'New' and create an entirely
new virtual machine. End result would be a virtual machine running
Windows 2000 with your program on it and an XP virtual machine without
your program. You can then install your software in the XP vm.
