Hi Paul
Having ensured that the Epson printer is the default printer on the Mac
side, the same error message (effectively***) arises when I try to print to
that printer from Win2000. (*** Only the number of the document, as stated
in the error message, has changed - by a few tens of digits.)
Since then, I have deleted and re-installed the printer on both the Mac side
and the VPC side. That has not changed what happens when I try to print
from that printer in the stated configuration (i.e. from Win2000 via Airport
Extreme and USB).

When I re-try printing, I get the same error message.
When I hook the printer directly to the iMac by USB and then set it up

How can I get the printer working as a network printer?
(Note: I once had the printer working as a network printer - so I know
that's possible.)
On the Mac side, make sure the printer is set as the default printer.
