I'm not a Mac expert, but you I definitely think you shouldn't be
seeing all these problems from installation. Have you contacted MS
Support? VPC installation issues are free.

The only other things I can suggest are repairing your disk
permissions and make sure that you are installing VPC to the boot
drive and not an external drive for your initial install.

This issue does come up every now and then with the same symptoms, but
I don't recall the fix...or if anyone posted back their solution.

You could try using Google to search this newsgroup's archives for
additional info.
