Thank you Mr. Power for your suggestion. I rebooted with the Shift key held
down until the login screen appeared with "Safe Boot" in red. I repeated the
installation with the Shift key held down through each reboot. I got as far
as the screen appeared with the three options for loading Windows. That that
point the message "You must be logged in as an administrator to complete the
Virtual PC installation" appeared.
I have instructions for logging on as a "Root User", if you think that might
help. Unfortunately, I have not used UNIX/Linux about two decades and would
prefer to try other options first.
Any other ideas?
