Have you tried running the bookeeping app on a normal Windows PC with XP? I know very little about running DOS apps in XP but I presume there are other forums that cover this topic. Sounds like the app is doing things that confuse XP - one possibility is that it is trying to use expanded memory (forerunner to extended memory). VPC might have some tweeks for this?

Dosbox was only written for running grand old DOS games. It doesn't have built in printing or networking (there are patches that are supposed to do this but I gave up trying to use them). Despite these limitations I found that DOS Open Access works well because it has the option of printing to file. I therefore print to a folder that is monitored by Applescript and it takes over from there.

If your DOS app works in Dosbox and has "print to file" then maybe you can "hold" the output for subsequent use by the Windows app.

Have successfully installed VPC7 for Mac and XP pro on iBook with 384 M
RAM allocated to the VPC.

Reason?  to run a C-language bookeeping program I need.  This has been
installed apparently successfully.  In fact, I can open it, navigate
through its screens and menus, and enter new data, BUT, every single
keystroke takes around 10 seconds to respond!.  If I open Notepad or
the MS-DOS prompt on the VPC, this does not occur.

I feel like I'm SO CLOSE to getting this done -- the software runs, but
unusably slowly.

I've read about DOSBox.  The problem I forsee is that I could run this
program on DOSbox, but when I go to submit my data over the internet, I
use a windows based program from the same company.
