I have made no progress with this problem and have not been
re-contacted by Microsoft engineer who I last spoke to 8 days ago. I
have written to Microsoft for a refund as per licence-guarantee,
although they say the "case-number" is still open.

VPC appears to be unsuitable for me as IE won't connect and I can't run
the small sound-programs I intended it for without them or the
sound-engine crashing. If it turns out I have to keep VPC, however,
does anyone know if I would be entitled to load Windows XP, which is
part of the package, onto a desktop PC. I may simply decide to buy a
second-hand one of these in order to achieve my aims. At least that way
I would have got something out of it.
